Festa del Grillo (Cricket Festival), held on the Day of Ascension in Florence's Parco delle Cascine.

Maggio Musicale: May through June is the time of Maggio Musicale, a series of classical music concerts, ballet, and opera performed by leading artists.


23th May: La Fiorita - Piazza della Signoria. It is the Girolamo Savonarola memorial. The event began with a mass in the Cappella dei Priori, then the place where the Friar was burned is  strewed with flowers.

11th June: Palio dei Navicelli


24 June: Feast of St John the Baptist, the Patron saint of Florence is also celebrated on this day with a procession in the morning and a display of fireworks at Piazzale Michelangelo. The feast coincides with the Calcio in Costume  final, held in Piazza Santa Croce.

10th August:

7th Sept: Festa della Rificolona: The feast commemorates the entry of Florentine troops in Siena on 1555. This ancient festival sees children taking part in paper  lantern parades. On Sept 7, at night,  a traditional procession starts from Piazza Santa Croce to Piazza Santissima Annunziata. The Festa della Rificolona closes with street performances and other entertainments lasting till dawn.
