You can reach Piazzale Michelangelo across the Viale
Michelangiolo (Viale dei Colli) a splendid walk through
the hills over Florence. The walk is 6 km long and for
less active people could be a good idea to take public
transportation (buses start from Santa Maria Novella train
station, take bus 12 or 13 (departures every 15 min)
from the train station.
Main stops are: Florence SMN train station - Porta al Prato -
Porta Romana - Piazzale Michelangelo - Piazza Ferrucci - Piazza
Beccaria - Campo di Marte train station - Ponte Rosso -

Or cross the river through Ponte Vecchio and enjoy the 20 minute walk
(followed by a steep stair climb) from the center of town.
You will recognize it because is has breathtaking views of the buildings of the city, Duomo,
Campanile and Arno and in the center of the Piazzale emerges the
Monument to Michelangelo, a perfect replica of the famous "David"( The
original is preserved in Academy Museum.

Church of St. Miniato al Monte
