- Opposite to the Duomo is the Etruscan Museum, dedicated to Claudio
Faina, who donated the rich family collection of Etruscan and
Greek finds. Of note is the 4th C b.c. sarcophagus depicting scenes from
Greek mythology. It also
preserves the "Venere" of Cannicella, a marmoreous Greek statue dating back to
6th century bc. and a the head of a warrior.
Inside the museum you can admire a coin display-case
consisting of more than 3000 coins, protohistoric and prehistoric finds,
bucchero ware, Etruscan figured vases, bronzes. Of great value is the
collection of Attic black or red figure pottery, attributed to some of
the most capable vase-painters of Athen.
