Taddeo di Bartolo's altarpiece towers over the high altar of Montepulciano cathedral. It is a polypthych, with a splendid double predella, of the Death and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. The Madonna stands in the center and is surrounded by angels, apostles, saints and other figures. The predelle feature twenty-three scenes with the life of Christ and of Saints.
